Pauline receives Queen’s Nurse Award
 

Pauline Bigwood, a Surrey nurse based at Leatherhead Clinic received the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse at a ceremony in London on 25 June. The Queen’s Nurse title is awarded by community nursing charity The Queen’s Nursing Institute.

Pauline Bigwood is Professional Health Visiting Lead at CFHS and has worked for the NHS for 38 years. Pauline says: “I am so proud to have been awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse as recognition of my commitment to learning, leadership and delivering high standards of care. The awards ceremony was an inspirational and emotional event, and is particularly poignant as we embrace the 70th anniversary of the NHS. 

"This award is an opportunity to continue my passion to inspire and empower our future generation of community nurses. I am privileged to have experienced a wonderful career in nursing, working with passionate teams of colleagues determined to make a difference for our children and families we care for.”

Rhona Mason, Director of HR and Communications at Children and Family Health Surrey, says: “We are extremely proud of Pauline and all that she has achieved during her career. The Queen’s Nurse award is well deserved recognition of her commitment and dedication to nursing and health visiting.”

The title is awarded for a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership. Nurses awarded with the title benefit from developmental workshops, bursaries, networking opportunities, and a shared professional identity.

“The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers. We look forward to working with Pauline and all other new Queen’s Nurses who have received the title this year.”

The Queen’s Nursing Institute is a registered charity that believes in the best possible nursing care for people at home. Feedback provided by managers and patients are assessed along with applications.
