Safeguarding

Children and Family Health Surrey is committed to the promotion of children’s welfare. We recognise that we all share the responsibility to safeguard and protect children regardless of our role.

We support a culture that enables staff, volunteers and anyone contracted to work with us, to have the confidence and skills to raise concerns about children and adults at risk or in need regardless of age, gender, faith or ethnicity.

We have dedicated Safeguarding and Looked after Children teams.

Our aim is to work effectively with families, children and partner agencies to ensure that the appropriate course of action is taken whenever there is cause to be concerned about a child.

For more information and links to useful resources and advice, including protecting children from harm, please visit Surrey Safeguarding Children Partnership website.

Supporting Children who are Looked After

A looked after child is defined as a child in the care of the local authority or is provided with accommodation for a continuous period of more than 24 hours. All children have health needs but looked after children and young people have higher levels of health needs than their peers. The Looked After Children Health Team is supported by the 0-19 team in providing services which directly support the child, carers and local authority in meeting the child’s health needs working towards healthier futures.
